New EVCAA Dr. Fernando Delgado

Dear Campus Community:

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Fernando P. Delgado to the UMD community.

After a national search, Dr. Delgado has accepted the position of Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. His first day on campus will be July 5, 2016.

Dr. Delgado's successful academic career and passion for higher education make him the right person for this position and our campus. During his interview he impressed many of us and demonstrated his ability to make connections and think strategically. I believe he is well positioned to help us continue our distinctive academic mission and explore new areas of excellence.

He joins us from the University of Wisconsin River Falls, where he is currently the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost.

The members of the search committee generously gave their time to this important commitment. Thank you to:

I'd also like to thank Brian Levin-Stankevich, who filled a crucial role as Interim Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Brian joined us this winter and quickly started advancing our programs and leading some difficult discussions and decisions. I'm very appreciative of his partnership. Brian will work with us to ensure a smooth transition.

Thanks and have a nice weekend.
Sincerely,
