Dear Campus Community,
I hope you are having a good summer. We've had some hot and humid
days in Duluth recently, but this is still a wonderful time of year to
live in the Northland. We are very busy at UMD getting ready for the
beginning of a new academic year and welcoming new students, faculty,
and staff. We have had a number of new and exciting things to celebrate
as we kick off a new fall semester, celebrate our accomplishments, and
look forward to new beginnings. I invite all faculty and staff to join
me for this year's employee welcoming event on Monday, August 24 at 3:00 p.m. in the Marshall Performing Arts Center, followed by a reception in the lobby.
We will be collecting nonperishable food for Champ's Cupboard, the
UMD Food Shelf located in 245 Kirby Plaza. Items specifically needed
are, all unused/unopened:
-Canned Chicken/tuna
-Boxed noodles, pasta, etc
-Pasta sauce
-Boxed meals and dinner sides
-Canned meals: spaghetti's, ravioli, etc
-Canned Fruit and Veggies
-Peanut Butter, Jelly, Condiments
-Lighter meals/snacks: Granola bars, etc
-Miscellaneous toiletries, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo
-Diapers and laundry detergent
I
am looking forward to celebrating the start of another dynamic academic
year, and I would like to thank you for your strong commitment to the
success of our students. See you soon!
